************ MISSIONARY SPOTLIGHT ************

SPP Letter from July 23, 2017

Hey Church Family!

We just finished week 7 and it was super fun! I would say that this week took the most out of me. I did a lot more than I normally do. I am so glad I got to see several of you this week, seeing so many familiar and friendly faces made my week 100 times better! I got to ride the giant swing and the 3rd falls zipline with Julie and I served Emily and Sophie from our church! This week I was serving JBC again and I was able to connect with several kids not just in the dining hall but also around camp!

This week I had a senior high cabin and they were a blast. I didn't get to do a lot of activities with them but I ate meals with them and sat in services with them. On Tuesday night 2 girls who were twins went out for counseling and they didn't want to separate so we did something I hadn't done before. I counseled both of them at the same time since they were struggling with the same thing. It was very encouraging to talk, read scripture, pray, and cry together. They were struggling with trusting God during a trial in their family. It was cool to take them to God's Word and show them how they can trust God. We read Isaiah 41:10 “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am Thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yes, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” We talked about how we can trust Him and not worry because He promised to strengthen us, help us, and uphold us.  After they each prayed and talked about how they were going to spend time in God's Word they were joyful and so excited about camp whereas before they were worried and seemed burdened. On Thursday night, I had a second opportunity to counsel. There were several that went out and there weren't enough counselors so several op staff members went out to help. I was able to meet and talk to a girl who had recently gotten saved and was confused about whether certain things she was doing were wrong or right. We read and discussed verses in the Bible that explained right from wrong. It was a different kind of counseling session because she didn't know as much about the Bible as most of the campers I have counseled. The difference and the slight uncertainty forced me to completely rely on God and what He can do. Sometimes when counseling I can get in the rut of saying the same things and believing I can do it. But I cannot. God is the only one who can give me the words to say and the verses to share. Thanks again for your prayers and your support! I look forward to seeing all of you in a few weeks!

Your sister in Christ,

Katie Winslow

THE SHORES – MISSIONARIES TO SCOTLAND

    (Continued from last week)

Please pray for our two HBC’s (Holiday Bible Clubs) July 10-14 and July 24-28. Please also pray for Helen’s husband, Stewart’s, salvation. I’m supposed to meet with him in the near future to share the Gospel with him. Her daughter Amy also needs to get saved. There are several others just now—please keep praying.

“Mercy drops round us are falling, but for the showers we plead.” God has blessed. However, the need for God’s grace in Scotland is incredibly great! Please continue to pray for the power of God to awaken the hearts of the Scottish people.

Thank you for rejoicing with us in God’s goodness and for supporting God’s work here in Loanhead, Scotland.

    ************ MISSIONARY SPOTLIGHT ************
THE SHORES – MISSIONARIES TO SCOTLAND
    (PART 2 OF 3)
Thank you for praying for our outside events and especially that God would take away the rain. We had heavy rain the morning of the football tournament. So, we played dodgeball inside for about half an hour and then decided to go outside around 10. Although the rain was supposed to continue until noon, we had no rain whatsoever, and the weather was perfect for football. It was misting at the beginning of the Gala (children’s fair) fancy dress parade, but during the parade at one point, we actually had blue sky above us and clouds all around us. It was very windy at our Gala Day Tent; however, it never rained, though at times, it seemed threatening with a few very light drops. The weather for the parade and Gala day was most important, because we let unbelievers know that we are praying for no rain and have that testimony before them.
God blessed our church with a young Bible college student this past month, George. It was a blessing to have George speak at both our assisted living facility and on a youth activity. He has also helped us in our outreach ministries. Please pray for George as he heads into ministry in the UK, most likely in England. George and his twin brother have been called to preach. God took them out of a life of sin just a few years ago. They have a great zeal for the Lord, and we are excited about what God is going to do with their lives.

We are thoroughly enjoying having the Washer family with us. Jonathan has been teaching our adult/teen Sunday school, and his wife has been helping much with the children in our church. God gave Jonathan good meetings with the Scottish and English prison services. England especially seemed open to their sports ministry. Please pray for wisdom for them as they pray about God’s will for any future plans regarding that.
    CONTINUED NEXT WEEK…
